Paul Smallwood, founder of FlowSense LLC, has been selected 2004 Class 1 Supplier of the Year by Minnesota Minority Supplier Development Council. He founded FlowSense, LLC in 2001 as an engineering company providing integrated technical solutions to the industrial, medical, environmental, aerospace, electronics, and defense industries.

A native of Vietnam, Smallwood immigrated to the USA in 1974 as a teenager with his mother. In 1980, Smallwood entered military services as an electronics technician for the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge from the military, he attended and received his mechanical engineering degree from the University of Illinois.

His engineering career started at Westinghouse where he was the design and manufacturing engineer in the development of the emergency controller for the Navy’s next generation Seawolf submarine.

FlowSense‘s capabilities include supplier of equipment and systems, engineering services, and project management in flow control and industrial solutions, environmental systems, and biometric verification (ID authentication through fingerprint and facial recognition). FlowSense is based in Minneapolis, MN.

Since started FlowSense, Paul Smallwood has diligently promoted other small business owners, woman owned business, and minority business enterprises. As a result, FlowSense has implemented several successful projects through the synergistic partnership with other small businesses and minority enterprises.

Smallwood will be receiving this prestigious award at the Business Opportunity Fair on September 17th at the Touchstone Place in the St. Paul River Centre.

FlowSense provides turnkey solutions in the equipment supply, engineering services, and project management for the industrial, medical, and environmental sectors. In 2001, Paul started FlowSense, LLC which sells flow control systems for industrial applications and has expanded into environmental solutions and biometric technology.
